This project consisted of 3 different phases in order to keep the jail occupied and secure simultaneously during construction. The new jail addition was built to ease overcrowding adding 7 multi-occupancy cells along with 10 isolation cells, an exercise area and a multi-purpose room. Renovations to the existing jail included updating many common areas and restrooms as well as much-needed life safety upgrades.
The Sheriff's office was built to house the sheriff's department administration, emergency operations command center and a training facility to coordinate with the South Texas Nuclear Plant.
